Data Import & Migration
Batch import plant profiles and photos
As you go from “beginner” to “deep collector,” your staghorn fern collection might grow from a few pots to dozens or even hundreds. To help you quickly consolidate information scattered across notes, Excel, or your memory, we’ve prepared batch import features.
Batch Import Plants (CSV)
Before starting your data migration, you’ll need to get StaghornPal’s dedicated template. This isn’t just a spreadsheet—it’s a data organization system we’ve designed for you.
1. Get the CSV Template from StaghornPal
In StaghornPal: Settings → Scroll to Data Management at the bottom → Batch Import Plants → Export Template
2. Template Guidelines & Symbol Rules
To ensure your data is read accurately, please note when filling out the CSV:
- ✅ Allowed characters: Only “space” and ”&”
- ❌ Avoid these pitfalls: Don’t use parentheses, commas, enumeration commas, or line breaks. These symbols will interfere with parsing
- Acquisition date should follow the
2024-01-01format - Each column corresponds to important plant information. You can use our preset options or define your own terms

How to:
- Find the staghorn fern you want to edit (you can search by name)
- In StaghornPal, find the plant → Settings on the right → Import Photos → Select photos
❗ Batch upload is a Premium feature
🧠 At StaghornPal, we encourage “being lazy”—import when you can, don’t type manually
